A significant leap forward in trade facilitation has been unveiled with the launch of the upgraded electronic Certificate of Origin (eCoO) 2.0 system. This digital transformation promises to revolutionize the textile export landscape by simplifying and accelerating the certification process. The initiative, spearheaded by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), introduces a suite of user-friendly features designed to empower exporters.

Multi-user access under a single Importer Exporter Code (IEC) now allows for greater operational flexibility, while the integration of Aadhaar-based e-signing alongside digital signature tokens offers enhanced accessibility. A centralized dashboard provides seamless access to eCoO services, Free Trade Agreement (FTA) information, trade event details, and vital resources. Furthermore, the introduction of an in-lieu Certificate of Origin feature streamlines the correction process for previously issued certificates through a simple online application.

As of January 1st, electronic filing of Non-Preferential Certificates of Origin has become mandatory via the eCoO 2.0 platform, marking a decisive shift towards digitization. This trade-focused initiative promises to significantly improve turnaround times and enhance the ease of doing business for textile exporters. The platform currently processes over 7,000 eCoOs daily, encompassing both preferential and non-preferential certificates. Connecting 125 issuing agencies, including 110 national and regional chambers of commerce and industry, over 650 issuing officers, and all Indian exporters, the unified system is poised to reshape the future of textile trade.
