During the upcoming Bangladesh visit of US deputy secretary of state Stephen E Biegun, Dhaka will seek duty-free access of its readymade garment (RMG) items to the US market for three years, according to foreign minister AK Abdul Momen, who recently said he will also propose US investment in infrastructure development in the country under its Indo-Pacific Strategy.

The US embassy in Dhaka said Biegun’s engagements during the visit will focus on advancing common vision of a free, open, inclusive, peaceful and secure Indo-Pacific region with shared prosperity for all. Biegun’s visit will also focus on US-Bangladesh cooperation on COVID-19 response and recovery efforts and sustainable economic development, the mission said in a press release.

Prior to his Bangladesh visit, Beigun is visiting India from October 12 to 14.
