The AI-powered BearingVisionAI™ app detects and quantifies bearing failures within seconds, enhancing inspection efficiency and accuracy for various industries. It can be customized as per the application to detect surface damage.

HYDERABAD, 30 AUGUST 2024 – The invention of Bearing Vision AI TM, an inventive application aimed at revolutionizing the inspection of all mechanical elements, including bearings, gears, shafts, etc., is announced by Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham. Designed to improve inspection speed and accuracy, this cutting-edge program was created by the Tribology Research Group at the Tribology and Interactive Surface Research Laboratory (TRISUL) at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Chennai Campus.

For OEMs, process industries, small-scale industries, assembly lines, and application engineers, inspecting mechanical components is essential. These inspections now take a lot of time, effort, and are frequently unreliable. Extensive human interaction, however, frequently results in failure report generation delays and overlooked problems. An easy-to-use software with AI integration, Bearing Vision AI TM, can identify and quantify bearing defects with speed and accuracy. All users need to do is provide a picture of the surface to be examined. In a matter of seconds, the software determines the kind of failure and calculates the damage. This simplifies the inspection procedure. To identify mechanical element failures, the software can be tailored to the specific needs.

Bearing Vision AI TM has been designed with application engineers’ challenges in mind, according to Dr. Shubrajit Bhaumik, Lead PI and Center Head, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Tribology and Interactive Surfaces Research Laboratory. When examining bearings, gears, and other mechanical components in harsh environments including cement mills, kilns, process industries, agricultural fields, and difficult-to-reach places, these experts encounter difficulties. The main characteristics of Bearing Vision AI TM are its high precision and accuracy, fast and dependable analysis, and low need for human participation.

Dr. R. Prasanna Kumar, Co-PI at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham’s School of Computing, continued, “BearingVisionAITM is easy to use and made for people with minimal technical background.” This technology is quite helpful and will boost productivity overall by greatly increasing the effectiveness of mechanical checks.

Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham’s dedication to converting scholarly research into useful solutions that solve real-world issues is demonstrated with BearingVisionAITM. The institution continuously uses its creative research to create solutions that have a noticeable effect on a variety of industries.
