Culp Inc, a US circular knitter, is expanding capacity at its newly purchased Haiti business with the installation of a third facility on the property.
Culp began manufacturing in Haiti in 2018, as part of a joint venture aimed to supplement its mattress textiles business with a close-sourced, low-cost operation.
Culp has invested in new facilities, adding another 40,000 square feet of capability to make and deliver stitched mattress coverings since the first 80,000 square foot plant was constructed.
Culp, Inc. has confirmed that the new building will be dedicated to production of cut and sewn upholstery kits. Construction began during the fourth quarter and is expected to be complete during the second quarter of fiscal 2022. Culp’s sales were $42.9 million in its most recent quarter, up 84 per cent compared with sales of $23.4 million in the same period last year.
