Brands first whole-home modern collection for fall 2020. Crate and Barrel based in Northbrook, Illinois is a chain of 122 retail stores in U.S., Canada and 8 other countries. It is specializing in housewares, indoor and outdoor furniture and home accessories. Crate and Barrel corporate name is Euromarket Designs, Inc.
Crate and Barrel’s fall product stories include Modern Prairie, The New Deco and Urban Retreat giving a variety of modern styles and niches –
Modern Prairie, the main product story, was inspired by Chicago’s architectural and design heritage, including the Prairie School architectural style and iconic American architect Frank Lloyd Wright, as an homage to Crate and Barrel’s hometown. It makes use of natural hues and materials such as cane and autumnal colors such as amber and botanicals. The New Deco is made for modern living, adding a glam twist to a mostly black-and-white palette. Urban Retreat focuses on color-washed hues and welcoming, comfortable silhouettes.
The new Trove collection, in addition to being Crate and Barrel’s first whole-home modern collection, is the first full collection to be released under the direction of the company’s new vice president of product design development, Sebastian Brauer. It was inspired by a mix of architectural styles, lifestyles, cities and distinct icons, and is the first of several planned releases under the Trove collection name.
In this introductory release, the collection draws inspiration from Copenhagen, representing Scandinavian design in the collection’s bold colors, silhouettes and fashion-forward textiles.
Made for small-space living, the anchor piece of this Trove release is the Strom sectional, a modular sofa that can be customized by customers to fit their space needs. Other standout pieces from the collection include the velvet Ofelia swivel dining chair and the corduroy Amalie sofa.
“The collection is designed for evolving lifestyles and all about self-expression, with a playful energy that strikes the right balance of function and fun,” said the company in a release.
Looking forward, Crate and Barrel said it will release a new Trove collection inspired by another modern design city twice a year in the fall and spring.
