Apparel exporters from Tirupur have urged Prime Minister, Narendra Modi to advice Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) to vaccinate all insured employees expediently.
Raja M. Shanmugham, President, Tirupur Exporters’ Association (TEA) wrote a letter to PM in this regard and said that it is right time for ESIC to play a prominent role in vaccinating insured employees.
The ESI Corporation is providing social and health insurance scheme for insured workers and oversees the provision of medical and cash benefits to the employees and their family.
It is pertinent to mention here that last week TEA had made similar representation to Santosh Kumar Gangwar, Minister of State for Labour and Employment (Independent Charge) and Mukhmeet S. Bhatia, DG, ESIC.
Raja has also requested the PM to ensure direct mass supply of vaccines to ESIC and fix a timeframe to inoculate the insured employees, which will help to give added credibility to the ESIC amongst the employees.
“This measure will help vaccinated employees work safely in the industries, after following the COVID-19 measures rigorously and thus the falling economy can be restored expediently,” said Raja.
He also thanked the PM for the announcement of giving free jab to all from 21 June 2021 onwards.
