A memorandum of understanding (MOU) has been signed by the International Cotton Association (ICA) and Supima, the brand that represents Pima cotton farmed in the United States. At the American Cotton Shippers Association (ACSA) Convention in June 2024 in Arizona, US, this deal was announced.

The UK-based ICA hopes to promote deeper cooperation and address shared goals with Supima. It currently has MOUs with a number of groups, including Better Cotton, the China Cotton Association, Aid by Trade Foundation’s Cotton Made in Africa (CmiA), and the US Cotton Protocol Trust. According to ICA President Kim Hanna, this alliance will improve coordination and communication, resulting in safer trading.

In an effort to increase openness and traceability in the cotton supply chain, Supima and the ICA have also stated their intention to collaborate on the blockchain platform TextileGenesis.
