According to official data, China’s garment sector grew steadily in the first five months of 2021, with gains in income, earnings, and output.
According to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), the total operating revenue of the sector’s 12,451 key businesses reached 525.1 billion yuan (approximately USD81.1 billion) from January to May, an increase of 13.29 percent over the same period in 2020.
According to MIIT statistics, these businesses earned a total of 23.5 billion yuan in the time, an increase of 27.87 percent year on year, while production climbed 20.89 percent year on year to 9.075 billion pieces.
According to the most recent figures, China’s online retail sales of apparel products grew 28.2 percent year on year in the first five months, while the country’s garment and accessory exports increased 48.3 percent year on year to USD56.6 billion.
