China emerges as Cambodia's top trading partner with $11.686 billion in goods trade, up 4.39% from 2021

With a volume of $11.686 billion, up 4.39 percent from 2021, mainland China was Cambodia’s greatest trading partner in terms of goods last year. According to Cambodia’s general department of customs and excise, the former’s exports to the latter accounted for 89.38 percent of that country’s total exports, an increase of 2.87 percentage points on an annual basis (GDCE).

This market accounted for 22.29 percent of Cambodia’s $52.425 billion in annual international merchandise trade.

China had a 34.89% market share and accounted for $10.446 billion in exports to Cambodia, an increase of 7.86% annually. At $1.241 billion, it represented a 5.52 percent share of all exports to Cambodia, a decrease of 17.85 percent from the 2021 total.

According to Cambodian media, Cambodia’s trade imbalance with mainland China increased by 12.61 percent, from $8.174 billion in 2021 to $9.205 billion in 2022.
