Mumbai, August 3, 2023: In a scintillating and yet emotionally charged evening, the Clothing Manufacturers Association of India (CMAI) celebrated its 60th anniversary by recognising and applauding Industry Stalwarts who have played a pivotal role in CMAI’s journey towards its current position of prominence.
At a glittering function in Mumbai, CMAI bestowed the prestigious CMAI ICON Award and the Loyal Partner Award upon 14 Stalwarts, 12 Service Partners and Vendors, and 2 pillars of the CMAI Secretariat.
Founded in 1963, CMAI has come a long way over the past six decades, evolving into a force to be reckoned within the Indian Apparel industry. However, it is not just the efforts of the present team that have brought CMAI to its current state of prominence, but the collective efforts of the past Committee Members and other volunteers over the years. The Association recognised and paid homage to 14 of these patrons, individuals who may have chosen to remain in the background but whose dedication, and commitment have been instrumental in shaping CMAI’s journey.
Moreover, the evening was also dedicated to partners who have stood by CMAI throughout its journey. Twelve service partners and vendors, some of whom have been associated with the CMAI for an impressive 30 years, were also honoured and recognised. Their unwavering support has played a crucial role in CMAI’s progress, and their loyalty was acknowledged with the Loyal Partner Award.
The celebrations also shone a spotlight on two pillars of the CMAI Secretariat, Mohan Sadhwani, the Executive Director, and B.S. Chandrasekhar, the Secretary, who have been at the helm of the CMAI Secretariat for over 25 years. Their relentless dedication and commitment have been pivotal in driving the association’s day-to-day operations and making CMAI a success.
As CMAI looks forward to a future full of promise and growth, it took a moment to pay tribute to those who have paved the way and sowed the seeds of success. The Association’s journey would not have been possible without the unwavering support of these stalwarts and partners.
The 60th-year celebration of CMAI was not just an occasion to commemorate the past but also a chance to look ahead with optimism. The event served as a reminder that the association’s journey is far from over and that its commitment to excellence, unity, and progress will continue to propel it forward in the years to come. With its dedicated members, loyal partners, and visionary leadership, CMAI stands poised to scale even greater heights in the Indian apparel industry, leaving an indelible mark on the pages of history.
