Background

Bijnore is located in north west UP on the eastern bank of Ganges river and adjoining to the southern part of Uttarakhand state. The handloom weaving activity is found in around 32 villages and 6 small towns.

The Bijnor district handloom cluster is wide in area and spread across a length of 60 km and breadth of 40 km. (60 km x 40 km).

About 20% of total production is supplied to Delhi based exporters like Fabindia and other prominent exporter and the remaining are sold in the domestic market at Naogaon, Sadat, Nehtaur, Seohara and Kath.
