A patent has been granted for the Dartex Zoned Coatings® produced by Trelleborg Engineered Coated Fabrics in Nottingham, England.
A single fabric may carry out several tasks thanks to Dartex Zoned Coatings®, which give the unique ability to “zone” various polyurethane coatings on support surface covers used in healthcare and medical applications. Richard Haxby, Technical Director, and Ilias Alexandrakis, Senior Development Project Manager, are the inventors of patent US 11,499,265 B2.
Trelleborg has a long history of creating intellectual property and is aware of the need of funding research to spur innovation in its target markets, which include the healthcare and medical sectors, according to Haxby. The groundbreaking Dartex Zoned Coatings® technology enables medical device manufacturers to provide the best support surfaces.
Alexandrakis continues, “This is a thrilling development. for the industry. It will enable producers of medical devices to streamline their operations, perhaps saving money and hastening the launch of new goods. Dartex Zoned Coatings® utilises patent-pending manufacturing techniques to enable zoning of a support surface cover, enabling a single cover to have various physical and stretch properties across several zones without joins, welds, or seams. For the comfort and quality of the patients, they use the well-known Dartex® polyurethane coating technology from Trelleborg.
The coatings are appropriate for a variety of healthcare and medical applications, including as stretchers, theatre tables, trollies, and stretcher tops and encasements, moving and handling, positioning devices, and specialised medical furniture. Zones can be created in mattress covers that work well with the mattress core.
