Land Acquisition For Kitex Garment Plant In Telangana; Farmers Oppose

In addition to seeking for a third location for its unit in addition to Warangal and Sitarampur in Rangareddy, Kitex Garments, which recently lay the foundation stone for its facility at Kakatiya Textile Park, is aiming to increase its investments in the State.

The second-largest producer of children’s clothing in the world, Kitex, which is based in Kochi, has already committed to investing Rs 2,400 crore in Telangana over three years to establish two integrated clusters for the production of clothing.

It had originally planned to invest Rs 1,000 crore, but after seeing the Telangana government’s response, it raised the commitment. This, according to the company, will generate 22,000 jobs over two locations. Almost 85% of the workforce will be female. Three million Telangana-made items would be shipped to foreign markets, according to Kitex’s objective.

The Kakatiya Textile Park unit’s foundation was formally laid on May 7. It has already declared plans to grow more during the next month. “Kitex is considering a third facility in Telangana as well. When announcing the release of the Industries department’s performance assessment report, Industry Minister KT Rama Rao stated that the investment would also increase from the initial commitment of Rs 2,400 crore.

The quality of the cotton produced in Warangal and adjacent regions is well renowned. The business is able to purchase cotton produced on roughly 3 lakh acres in the State.
