Background
Chhattisgarh State was constituted by the division of Madhya Pradesh on 1st November 2000. In this state handloom industries play an important role in the rural economy. Tusar fabric of Chhattisgarh, called “kosa” is known all over the world for its special structure and design. The major product of the cluster includes Temple design saree, which is developed by the use of 3 shuttles. The yarn used for the production includes tasar in warp and gichha and dupion silk in weft. Saree has a great demand in the domestic market apart from this home furnishings also add to the product profile.
