British Wool is introducing a new 100% traceable wool system that traces the provenance of the wool from the farm gate to the store floor.
Graham Clark, British Wool’s director of marketing, explained:
“We are eager to fulfil the ever-increasing customer need to understand the origin of their products. Our initiative enables customers to completely understand where the wool in the items they buy comes from. It also provides them with the assurance that the producer earned a premium rate for their wool.”
British Wool has launched a new programme that would sell out traceable wool from three of its facilities in Bradford, Newtown, and South Molton. During the first year of the project, more than 500,000 kilogrammes of wool of various kinds will be auctioned off. British Wool’s CEO, John Clark, stated that the company’s goal is to raise million over the next five years.
Devon Woolgrowers has developed a new programme aimed to provide complete transparency to customers while also maximising the amount the producer receives for their wool. The cooperative collaborates with two industry leaders: Devon Duvets, which provides 100 percent British wool bedding, and Harrison Spinks, a luxury mattress maker.
