British Council and University of the Arts London have recently made an exciting announcement for the Indian design community. They have launched an open call for Indian designers, design entrepreneurs, and SMEs to take part in the New Landscapes India: R&D Grant Scheme.
Recognizing the growing importance of sustainability in India’s fashion, textiles, and technology industries, the University aims to encourage collaborative efforts between Indian and UK stakeholders in these fields. This 3-year initiative aims to promote innovation and research in sustainable fashion, textiles, and technology, fostering a partnership that addresses global challenges and explores the social and cultural impact of design disciplines.
The Architecture Design Fashion team at the British Council will oversee the program and provide support to the chosen participants. A total of seven grants, each amounting to £7,000, will be awarded to collaborative projects between Indian and UK applicants. To be considered, applicants must meet specific eligibility criteria, including at least one Indian and one UK participant, a minimum of three years of experience for Indian applicants, and a commitment to project activities from April 2024 to September 2024.
Successful applicants will also have the opportunity to host a public event in late 2024 to showcase their findings. This grant scheme offers an exceptional chance for Indian designers, design entrepreneurs, and SMEs to contribute to sustainable practices and make a positive impact on society and the environment.
