Leading provider of sustainable textile solutions, Birla Cellulose, is dispelling the myth that Open End (OE) yarn is only appropriate for low-end applications like cotton waste with the launch of its ground-breaking Excel fiber (lyocell).
By combining the structure of OE yarn with Excel fiber—which has greater strength and whiteness—Bila Cellulose offers a novel way to maximize waste utilization and lessen dependency on virgin cotton. With this discovery, OE yarn now has more options in high-end uses like denim and home textiles.
Excel fiber sticks out as the ideal companion for cotton that has been mechanically recycled. Its consistent length, denier, whiteness, and high strength more than make up for the difficulties associated with using recycled fibers to make yarn.
Birla Excel is now being used by spinning mills in India to create blends of soft wastes and recycled cotton. These blends produce OE regenerated yarn in count ranges of 6 to 34. These yarns are utilized in many different products, such as knits, shirts, towels, jeans, bed linens, and dress materials.
By enhancing the production and quality of OE yarn, Birla Cellulose helps spinning mills through the use of the Textile Research Application and Development Centre (TRADC) and its committed technical service team. Across the value chain, the company’s pan-India business development staff helps secure orders and promote Excel-based products.
