The goal of Welspun Living and Avgol Industries’ strategic alliance is to provide consumers with biodegradable polyolefin wipes. Leading manufacturer of spunmelt nonwoven fabrics worldwide and a member of the Indorama Ventures Group, Avgol works with UK-based Polymateria, a biodegradable plastic technology firm.

Using Polymateria’s Biotransformation Technology, these novel wipes address the rising problem of plastic waste by disintegrating into organic molecules when exposed to the open air. Keyur Parekh, CEO of Welspun Living, stated, “By working with Avgol, we are setting new standards in delivering environmentally friendly solutions that align with our global consumers’ evolving needs.”

The partnership’s inventiveness was highlighted by Avgol CEO Sivan Yedidsion, who said, “This collaboration brings to market a unique technology we’ve been developing for two years.” We are optimistic that it will spur more environmentally friendly product developments in the wipes sector.

In tackling the end-of-life issues for nonwoven goods, this alliance represents a major milestone, according to Richard Horne, CEO of Polymateria India. We are developing more sustainable solutions for the 100 million tons of plastic garbage produced annually by utilizing state-of-the-art science.
