Sustainable textile finishing is about to change thanks to a ground-breaking partnership between Monforts, BW Converting’s Baldwin TexCoat G4 digital spray technology, and Archroma. In order to serve dyeing and finishing manufacturers, this alliance brings together the knowledge of these three leading industry figures.
The goal is to optimize resource utilization during the finishing process while improving product quality and performance. When Monforts installs BW Converting’s Baldwin TexCoat digital spray machine at its Advanced Technology Center (ATC) in Mönchengladbach, Germany, in the second half of this year, the partnership will formally begin. The center’s current capabilities, which include two Montex stenter finishing lines, a Thermex range, and many lab-scale systems for trial testing, will be greatly increased with this installation.
Saskia Kuhlen, a junior technician at Monforts, underlined the value of the ATC, saying, “Our ATC allows customers to test textiles under real production conditions.” The addition of the new TexCoat installation will significantly increase our capacity to enhance fabric treatments.
By precisely applying chemicals to textiles where needed, the Baldwin TexCoat G4 technology transforms the conventional pad-dry-cure process while cutting down on energy, chemistry, and water usage by up to 50%. To improve productivity and sustainability, the system accommodates a broad variety of textile treatments, such as flame retardants, antimicrobials, and softeners.
The advantages of this collaboration were emphasized by Michael Schuhmann, Global Marketing Segment Manager for Technical Textiles at Archroma: “Our customers will save a significant amount of energy and water as a result of our sustainable solutions integrated with Baldwin’s contactless precision spray technology and Monforts’ equipment expertise.
“This collaboration will bring transformative change to the dyeing and finishing space, leading to lower energy, chemical, and water consumption while increasing productivity and quality,” said Rick Stanford, vice president of business development at Baldwin for textiles.
