  • Research shows that failure to do so will result in loss of market share and reputational risk –

According to a recent report1 with board directors and senior executives who work for fashion brands and retailers in the UK, US, and Australia, Aquapak Polymers Ltd., a company that specializes in polymer-based material technologies, has seen an increase in pressure from shareholders to use more environmentally friendly packaging over the past three years. Seventy-four percent of respondents claimed that pressure had gone up, fifteen percent said it remained the same, and eleven percent indicated it had gone down.

Additionally, 28% of respondents anticipate a considerable increase in shareholder pressure over the next three years to move away from plastic and toward more environmentally friendly materials like paper, while 55% anticipate a moderate increase. Only 2% anticipate a pressure drop, and only 15% expect it to stay the same.

If the packaging utilized does not enhance its environmental performance, it will have a substantial influence on the business. According to CEOs, the three most likely negative outcomes are decreased sales, reputational damage, and a decline in market share. NGO pressure, falling stock prices, and failure to meet sustainability goals come next.

If the business does not improve the sustainability of its packaging, what do you think the impact on the business will be?

Even while there is still space for improvement, the report demonstrates that executives are giving the adoption of sustainable packaging considerable consideration. Three halves characterized adoption as “good,” one-fifth as “very good,” and seven percent as “average.”

The CEO of Aquapak, Mark Lapping, states: “Many stakeholders, including its shareholders, are pressuring the fashion industry to increase packaging sustainability. This is expected to rise over the next three years, according to our analysis. The financial line will suffer if environmentally friendly products are not adopted because of lost market share to competitors who use greener practices and significant declines in sales.

HydropolTM is a novel polymer that Aquapak created that is soluble and non-toxic to marine life to lessen the pollution caused by plastic packaging. HydropolTM has the same functionality and performance as traditional plastic but doesn’t cause the same environmental issues, making it a viable substitute in a wide range of applications. Presently, it is employed in the production of clothing bags and provides all the essential characteristics of conventional polybags, including strength and resistance to punctures, film clarity, and defense against leaks and dirt.

Most importantly, there are no end-of-life problems with Hydropol clothing bags for companies or customers. They can be instantly dissolved in hot water at home without creating hazardous microplastics, or they can be disposed of in current home trash streams without contaminating other recyclable goods.
