Indian origin designer Manish Arora’s namesake fashion brand has reportedly been knocked down by bad business deals, unpaid wages, lawsuits and vendor disputes that began around three years ago. The novel coronavirus pandemic acted as the last straw that breaks the camel’s back. The Manish Arora store in Paris is closed, and the company has reportedly informed staff that it is now in liquidation.

Earlier this year, Arora parted ways with Deepak Bhagwani, his business partner of several decades. The French holding company for Arora’s Indian subsidiary reportedly went into liquidation in July.

The Manish Arora website is also shut for maintenance now.

The designer was, however, in the news for announcing the launch of his pop-up restaurant in Paris around two months ago.

The brand’s items available for purchase are mostly discounted, from past seasons and on sale via small, independent boutiques in the Middle East and Asia, according to a report in a top US newspaper.

He last showcased his spring 2020 ready-to-wear collection called ‘We Are Family’ in Paris and an elaborate and a dreamy showcase of the same at Lakmé Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2020.
