After experiencing negative growth for more than six months, textile and apparel exports became positive last month.
August of this year saw exports at $2,951.9 million, an increase of 4.33% from August of last year ($2829.3 million in August 2022). Exports of garments decreased 8.15% while those of textiles grew 13.98%. Data provided by the Confederation of Indian Textile Industry reveals that cumulative textile and apparel exports for the months of April through August were, nevertheless, 10.51% lower than they were during the same time last year.

Home textiles are in high demand, according to Siddhartha Rajagopal, executive director of Cotton Textiles Export Promotion Council. “Made ups are driving the growth in cotton textiles,” he claimed. Typically, the months of September through March are when demand and exports increase. In December and January of this fiscal year, the demand for clothing is anticipated to increase. “Things are not looking good. However, the growth will continue. The availability of fibre must be our main concern, he said.
