Textile Technology Will Counter “Fast Fashion”

MK Muneer, Kerala’s minister for social justice and panchayats, officially opened Vastramandala, a revolutionary initiative of Kudumbashree in the clothing manufacturing industry to resuscitate Kozhikode’s history as a textile powerhouse.

In the Kozhikode South constituency, Vastramandala is a group of clothing businesses that are part of Kudumbashree, one of the biggest women’s empowerment initiatives in the nation. The consortium’s goal is to spread awareness of these garment companies’ products throughout the state under the Kudumbashree brand. To compete with the leading brands in the market, the products, which primarily consist of children’s apparel and other ready-made clothing, will go through a rigorous quality check.

Upon opening the two garment factories, the minister declared that the execution of Vastramandala in Kozhikode South constituency will restore Kozhikode’s historical status as a textile hub. . Calico Designs and Calico Fashions are the names of the new divisions.The consortium includes Kudumbashree members and their relatives who have sewing experience. They received instruction in clothing design at the National Institute of Fashion Technology, and they will soon receive additional training in the use of cutting-edge tools in the industry.
