The collaboration between TENCELTM by Lenzing, a leader in wood-based cellulosic textile fibers, and ROICATM by Asahi Kasei, a pioneer in premium stretch fiber, continues to introduce the idea of sustainable and circularly driven textiles to a variety of applications, from lingerie to indoor sportswear or general apparel.

We will be able to introduce a new application that is crucial for modern consumers: pants and outerwear in general, thanks to our partnership with DESTRO Fabrics, in conjunction with the upcoming Milano Unica.

The focus of the collection will be on men’s and women’s trousers, which will come in three distinct textures and offer excellent comfort, urban appeal, and a modern aesthetic. The decision to move toward an end of life with TENCELTM by Lenzing and ROICATM V550 degradable stretch fiber is undoubtedly a step in the direction of more transparency and a more circular strategy. Furthermore, we have used European-sourced cotton that is entirely spun and weaved in Cavernago, Italy.

fabrics where we will provide the heritage softness of TENCELTM by Lenzing, the comfort of ROICATM premium stretch, and the pleasant, compact feel of cotton. Art. BIONIC BROKEN TWILL WEAVE, Art. BIOLOGIC TWILL L.H. WEAVE 4/2, and Art. BIOTECH PIQUET WEAVE are some of the highlights of this collection. They are made of 68% cotton, 30% TENCELTM Lyocell, and 2% ROICATM V550.

This launch is the start of a journey, as Destro Fabrics hopes to develop this idea further in next seasons, demonstrating its keen interest in comfort and sustainability innovation.

DESTRO Fabrics started its journey in 2010 with the clear idea to create a high value fabric collection; value in terms of product, in terms of contents and human terms. DESTRO Fabrics came up beside Eurotessile in 2018 and thanks to the combination of DESTRO Fabrics creativity and production capacity – for spinning and weaving – of Eurotessile Italian site, the brand has grown and today is recognized by the market for its authenticity, its fully made in Italy production, quality and high level of service quality. Destro Fabrics support a very closed supply chain in order to avoid CO2 emission and possible supply problems due to current geopolitical risks. Eurotessile is GOTS, GRS, OCS, OEKO-TEX® certified and, on top of that, the production site in terms of energy is supported by solar panels that stands for 1/3 of energy year need.

So next February at Milano Unica on stage for this project we will have partners presenting four collections aiming to reach contemporary consumer new generation of wardrobe:

ROICA™ V550 is a degradable stretch fiber by Asahi Kasei, created by using special polymer technology. It provides a sustainable end-of-life solution. This innovative fiber undergoes partial degradation under ISO 14855-1 conditions, as verified by OWS, breaking down into CO2 and water. Furthermore, it holds the distinction of being the world’s first Cradle to Cradle-Certified™ stretch yarn achieving a Material Health Gold Level certification.

Cellulosic fibers TENCELTM Lyocell and Modal are made from wood, a natural raw material from forests that have been certified. Not only does this botanical origin affect the production’s environmental impact, but it also affects how long the fibers last. TENCELTM fibers are completely biodegradable in soil, freshwater, and saltwater. At the conclusion of their life cycle, TENCELTM Lyocell and Modal fibers may decompose and compost (confirmed by TÜV Australia). In recognition of the fibers’ high environmental standards over the course of their whole lifecycle, they are additionally certified with the EU Ecolabel (license no. AT/016/001) for environmental excellence.
