Development Council for Footwear& Leather Industry set up

India’s department for promotion of industry and internal trade (DPIIT) recently issued a notification announcing formation of the Development Council for Footwear & Leather Industry (DCFLI) to formulate and implement promotional and developmental measures for the growth of sectors, boost domestic production and encourage export of these products.

R K Gupta will chair DCFLI for two years. Twenty four other members have also been nominated, according to an official press release.

The council is envisaged to play a very proactive role in preparing a futuristic vision for development, designing and manufacturing of high quality world-class footwear and leather products in the country.
