The new Casablanca x New Balance XC – 72 is the result of a new partnership between Parisian apparel brand Casablanca and footwear superpower New Balance. The limited edition design will come in two colourways. The orange and green colour scheme was influenced by the previous cooperation, while the red and yellow style with black accents was inspired by luxury automotive designs. Each model pays homage to New Balance’s history while also introducing a fresh style to previous models.
The shoe made its official premiere in Casablanca’s AW21 promotional film, which gave potential purchasers a sneak peek at the brand’s next models. “From the moment we started working on the collaboration, we dub it the ‘sports car for your feet’ because it evokes that feeling of when you first saw a luxury car as a child, you knew it was a car…but it was unlike any car you’d seen before,” said Charaf Tajer and Steve Grimes, Casablanca’s creative director and art director, respectively. It’s a sensation, a sense of awe, engineered to perform, engineered to be unique.” The two brands have previously worked on successful shoe launches, the first of which was in April 2020 with a 327 line that is comparable to the new styles. The limited-edition collection will be available starting August 27 on Casablanca and New Balance’s respective websites, as well as select retailers.
