C.L.A.S.S. ecohub joins the 58th edition of Filo. Organizers of the major yarn and fiber show invited the international platform as an ambassador and agent of change to share new sustainability values and its vision for an all around responsible textile sector.

Milan, September 2022 – “We are very happy to participate to Filo, the fair dedicated to the fashion world’s key ingredient, the starting point of creativity but also of sustainability. Because it is precisely from the yarn that the change in the system is triggered.” Commented Giusy Bettoni, CEO of C.LA.S.S. “At the fair we will bring our expertise, gained since 2007 to date, and our research services on smart materials, processes, measurements, as well as marketing activities and next generation communication to give voice and activate real values and paths of responsible innovation. With us also some of our most innovative and responsible partners, agents of change and virtuous case histories against green  washing.”

At the D8 booth, C.LA.S.S. presents smart materials and tells its story by introducing its services to support companies on their sustainable journey, from responsible innovation to smart materials, from processes, certifications and measurements to marketing and communication activities. C.L.A.S.S. partners at Filo are Bemberg™ by Asahi Kasei, Ghezzi, ICA YARNS, company belonging to the Albini Group, e SUPREME GREEN COTTON® by Varvaressos.

“Story making without story telling is green washing. Story telling without story making is green washing” Continues Giusy Bettoni who will give the talk “Green washing: let’s learn to communicate our values!” on September 15 at 11:30 am. “The yarn is the real starting point of the whole system. Communicating its real sustainability is the weapon against the scourge of green washing and misinformation but also the winning tool to gain a real competitive advantage in the market.”

For this reason, the international ecohub has selected some of its partners to give proof with their products and projects of all-round sustainable paths.

  • Bemberg™ di Asahi Kasei, a one-of-a-kind, matchless and original new generation material made from the smart-tech transformation of cotton linter pre-consumer material, converted through a traceable and transparent closed loop process. Bemberg™ has the RCS, Oeko-Tex Standard 100 e ISO 14001 certifications. Bemberg™ is cool and sensual with a unique, supple drape. It is antistatic and breathable while its soft versatility makes it perfect for many different applications in the Modern Wardrobe, from fashion to athleisure and everyday casual wear.
  • Ghezzi, a company that offers advanced twisting, covering and twist-texturizing processes for yarns
and threads thanks to its precious corporate heritage and continuous investment in innovative technologies. For some time now, the Como-based company has implemented an offer – unique in
this field – strongly linked to sustainability, which is translated into the selection of products capable of reducing environmental impact In fact, Ghezzi processes a wide range of items developed from sustainable fibers such as SENSIL® BioCare by Nilit, TENCEL™ Luxe and ROICA™ EF by Asahi Kasei, in addition to all fibers also from sustainable sources (FSC® and RCS certified viscose, Eastman Naia™, Bemberg ™ by Asahi Kasei, Bamboo filament).
  • ICA YARNS, an Albini Group company specialised in producing high-end yarns made with natural,
ennobled and sustainable fibres, presents the latest creations from its Spring/Summer 2024 collection at the 58th edition of Filo. The huge success of revolutionary Biofusion® – the exclusive 100% organic and scientifically traceable yarn – continues, owing to a highly innovative method developed by Oritain™, world leader in traceability using forensic science technology. Owing to this process, the yarn can be traced from the field where it is grown to the point of sale: not only a guarantee of its origin, but also of its quality and of the product’s ethical and sustainable  production. The Biofusion® collection has expanded with the addition of a new range of mélange yarns: no less than 53 colours made with organic GOTS® cotton and 23 colours in 100% organic GOTS® Supima® in extra fine thread counts.
  • SUPREME GREEN COTTON® by Varvaressos, an innovative and socially-responsible system from the cotton field to the end product that supports greek family farmers at the foothills of Mount Olympus. The whole supply chain up to the yarn is located within 200 km, thus drastically reducing the CO2 footprint, claiming GMO-free cotton seeds, water savings up to 40%, high-quality long-staple fibers and complete transparency and traceability via “Diafania SI”. Diafania SI platform is a unique and specialized communication and information software, backed by  blockchain technology, in combination with a special QR-Code, which is imprinted on the SUPREME GREEN COTTON® hangtags. The new member of the SUPREME GREEN COTTON® family will be the PLATINUM quality: extra-long staple cotton that results in excellent yarn quality designed for premium, luxurious and long-lasting products. Superior strength, low hairiness and contamination-free are all key characteristics of the SUPREME GREEN COTTON® yarns.

From water-saving cotton to sustainable smart-tech yarn. These are just some of the stories C.L.A.S.S. brings to Filo. “Only with an accurate and factual narrative of the primary ingredient can we add value to next-generation fashion.” Giusy Bettoni concludes
