Bangladesh-India Trade and Investment Possibilities

On Monday, October 10, 2023, the president of the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), Faruque Hassan, met with a visiting Indian team that was led by Sandeep Poundrik, who is the Additional Chief Secretary of the Industries Department for the government of Bihar.

During the conference, participants explored possible areas of trade and investment between Bangladesh and India. One of the primary focuses of the discussion was on how to improve collaboration within the textile and garment sectors.

Both parties were aware of the enormous potential that existed for working together in this area, and they had conversations about how to take advantage of these prospects. Bihar is a state in India that has a lot of potential for investment, and the Indian delegation promoted the state to investors who are looking for chances there.

During the discussion, Faruque Hassan emphasized how important it is for the two countries to work together more closely on commercial matters. He emphasized the need to determine certain domains in which Bangladesh and India may work together to produce results that are beneficial to both countries. In particular, with regard to the textile and clothing industry, which is an important sector for both countries, the president of the BGMEA voiced his excitement over the possibility of growing trade and investment connections between the two countries.

In his opinion, Bangladesh and India may mutually benefit from working together to expand their economies and seize possibilities in global markets.
