Angelina Jolie sets summer sweaters on trend

Published: August 4, 2020

As a rule, summer dressing skews lightweight. The gauzy slip dresses and thin blouses that populate the streets offer a degree of relief from the heat. Substantial fare like knits, jackets, and jerseys usually get packed away till winter, but leave it to Angelina Jolie to present an alternative view on the season’s look.

Yesterday, while shopping at the Los Angeles fashion mainstay, Maxfield, with her son, Pax, the Oscar winner braved the 90-degree temperature in an oversized tan sweater from Ryan Roche’s spring 2020 collection. Roche’s cashmere t-shirts are chic year-round and offer a luxurious take on the wardrobe staple. A longtime fan of the designer’s work, Jolie layered hers over a long white dress, which she coordinated with her face mask.

Monochromatic fashion speaks to Jolie’s minimalist tastes, and as such, she worked in plenty of tan accessories into the outfit. Her Gabriela Hearst Nina bag and coordinated sandals added to the effect, as did a pair of transparent aviators in the same rich beige tones as her sweater. True knitwear enthusiasts will look for any excuse to pull out their cashmere, even in the middle of summer. Though she often opts for the comfort of loose-fitting knits, Jolie would have to make concessions for the weather were her day spent outdoors in the current climate. Still, for the journey from an air-conditioned boutique to the back seat of an SUV, her extra layer made for a movie-star worthy summer look.
