Apparel Made Ups and Home Furnishing Sector Skill Council (AMHSSC) is India’s top notch sector skill council, established under the aegis of Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship  National Skill Development Council (NSDC) for the job-roles related to Apparel Industry.

The Council is well known for ensuring quality skill training and high-placement rate. This year, AMHSSC’s international placement is a record-setter, as30 candidates trained by Delhi based Centre of Excellence (CoE), for the Sewing Machine Operator (SMO) job role, were hired by a Kuwait based leading company M/s Alghanim Son’s Group.

According to the reports, Kuwait didn’t have any apparel manufacturing unit and Alghanim Son’s Group are the first to launch Kuwait’s International Standard apparel manufacturing unit for which they required skilled workforce. Based on the achievements of Skill India Mission and the existing cordial Indo-Kuwait relationship, the company decided to hire the candidates trained by the Council. These candidates were also taught managerial, cultural and soft-skills.

Dr.Roopak Vasishtha, CEO, AMHSSC said: “As Sector Skill Council we emphasise on the quality training and placement of the candidates. Most of the processes in this industry, especially the sewing, cutting and assembling etc., are labour driven, thus, making it a workforce centric industry. Due to this fact, there is a constant high- demand for Sewing Machine Operators. The Council’s certification ensures quality training as per the set standards of the National Skill Qualification Framework (NSQF), and for the first time a batch of 30 youths have been selected under the International Placement in Apparel Manufacturing Unit of Kuwait.

“Going forward, our focus will be on more global- placements, jointly in collaboration with the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and NSDC, thus, helping in fulfilling the dream of our Hon’ble Prime Minister in making India as the skill capital of the world,” he added.
