The Andhra Pradesh government is set to introduce a new policy aimed at boosting the state’s textiles, apparel, and garment industries. Minister for Backward Classes Welfare and Handlooms & Textiles S. Savitha announced the upcoming policy during a videoconference address to investors on Monday.

Ms. Savitha emphasised the government’s commitment to creating a conducive environment for these industries, including the development of necessary infrastructure and the provision of timely incentives and clearances. She highlighted the shortcomings of the previous Textile Policy (2018-23) implemented by the TDP government, which was subsequently discarded by the YSRCP government.

The new policy, according to Ms. Savitha, will be a refined version of its predecessor, tailored to meet the current needs of the industry. The government will offer comprehensive support to companies interested in establishing their operations in Andhra Pradesh, she added.
