Gujarat has held the top spot in terms of the value of oilseed and fibre production for the past two years, retaining this status.
According to a recent report by the Union Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI), Gujarat’s gross value of production (GVO) for oilseed was $24,900 crores, or 20% of the state’s overall output. Additionally, the state’s GVO for fibres reached 19,900 billion rupees, or 25.4% of the GVO nationwide. In terms of fibre production, Maharashtra and Gujarat were tied for first place.
Gujarat ranks sixth in sugar production and fifth in the value of fruits and vegetable output, according to the survey. Gujarat does not, however, rank among the top producers of other agricultural products. five performing states in the country, as mentioned in the report. MoSPI recently released a report titled “Statewise and Item wise Value of Output from Agriculture, Forestry, and Fishing,” providing insights into the value of output from various items between 2011-12 and 2020-21.
