In March, agricultural produce marketing committee (APMC) yards in the growing regions of India saw a three-year high in cotton arrivals. According to traders and industry leaders, this is due to the natural fibre prices stabilising between 60,000 and 62,000 per sweet (356 kg) and the good quality of the arrivals.
The market is uncertain about the precise production of cotton this season due to rising arrivals (October 2022-September 2023). The Agricultural Ministry’s Agmarknet reports that cotton arrivals between March 1 and March 18 reached a three-year high of 2.43 lakh tonnes (lt).
