MATEXIL Recognises MMF Export Leaders at 2025 Awards Gala

The Manmade and Technical Textiles Export Promotion Council (MATEXIL), formerly SRTEPC, held its Annual Export Award Function in Mumbai on March 30, 2025. The event served to acknowledge and honour member companies for their significant export accomplishments during the fiscal year 2023-24. Approximately 50 awards were distributed across diverse categories within the Manmade Fibre (MMF) Textiles sector. Shri Giriraj Singh, the Union Minister of Textiles, attended the function as the Chief Guest. He presented the awards to the recognized companies in the presence of senior government officials and prominent figures from the textile industry. In his address, Minister Singh observed a global shift towards MMF textiles, noting their cost-effectiveness compared to natural fibres. He stressed the importance of concentrating on research and development (R&D) and innovation to foster the adoption of green manufacturing techniques within the MMF textile industry. The Minister advocated for embracing sustainable manufacturing practices to position India as a global leader in both MMF and Technical Textiles while also cultivating a favourable business climate for these sectors. A significant moment during the event was the official launch of MATEXIL's newly created Website and Trade Dashboard. This digital platform aims to offer detailed trade information specific to Manmade fibres and Technical Textiles. Minister Singh praised MATEXIL and its Chairman, Shri Bhadresh Dodhia, for this forward-thinking initiative. He underscored the necessity of reliable, tailored textile data for effective policy-making, stating that the new dashboard would fill a crucial information void. The Minister also reaffirmed the government's dedication to increasing textile exports, aiming for a target of USD 100 billion by the year 2030. Shri Bhadresh Dodhia, Chairman of MATEXIL, spoke about the evolving MMF textile landscape. He highlighted the rising importance of sustainability and circularity, noting that global brands and retailers are increasingly demanding sustainable and recyclable textiles to meet consumer preferences. This trend, he mentioned, is driving the industry towards developing MMF textiles that are environmentally conscious and recyclable. Chairman Dodhia also addressed the difficulties confronting the Indian MMF textiles industry, particularly the deficiency in technical know-how for processing and finishing. He suggested that forming strategic partnerships with leading international companies in the MMF field could bridge this gap. Furthermore, he emphasised the critical need to upgrade and automate technology in MMF textile production to meet international benchmarks. Concluding the event, Shri Shaleen Toshniwal, Vice-Chairman of MATEXIL, delivered closing remarks. He reiterated the significance of the Export Awards as a motivational tool for industry participants. He pointed out that this practice of recognising outstanding performance has spurred newer exporters to pursue greater success in the international marketplace. Among the notable companies receiving honours were Reliance Industries Limited, Grasim Industries Limited, D’Décor Exports Private Limited, Sangam India Limited, Vardhman Textiles Limited, RSWM Limited, and Banswara Syntex Limited. The Export Award Function stands as a vital platform for recognising industry achievements and encouraging Indian firms to enhance their international presence in the Manmade Fibre Textiles domain.
