The adoption and accessibility of MBA chemicals, building blocks, and polymers remain key concerns for the chemical and plastics industries as well as global brand owners. MBA products offer an attractive pathway toward defossilisation by ensuring better material options, improved availability, and cost efficiency compared to fully dedicated bio-based alternatives.

Despite its potential, scaling MBA production faces challenges. The concept itself and related political regulations are often complex and hard to interpret. Additionally, concerns about misleading communication surrounding MBA labelling create confusion among stakeholders. Reliable production volume data is also scarce, making market analysis difficult.
