Madhya Pradesh Seeks Centre’s Support to Strengthen Export Infrastructure and Textile Ecosystem

State proposes textile testing facility, EPC office, new ICDs and logistics infrastructure to accelerate exports and support MSMEs.

Madhya Pradesh has proposed a series of infrastructure initiatives aimed at strengthening exports, including the establishment of a textile testing facility, a regional Export Promotion Council (EPC) office in Indore, new Inland Container Depots (ICDs) in Jabalpur and Rewa, and the inclusion of landlocked states under the Centre's LIFT scheme.

The proposals were presented during the Board of Trade (BoT) meeting chaired by Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal in New Delhi.

Presenting the state's recommendations, MSME Minister Chaitanya Kumar Kashyap said Madhya Pradesh is committed to contributing towards India's $2 trillion export target by 2030-31. He noted that the state's textile, pharmaceutical and engineering industries are emerging as key drivers of export growth.

Referring to the PM MITRA Mega Textile Park in Dhar, Kashyap said investment agreements worth more than ₹26,000 crore had been signed with around 36 industrial units, while land allotment for the project was already underway.

He urged the Central Government to establish a textile testing facility and a regional Export Promotion Council office in Indore to support exporters from the region.

The minister also proposed the development of an advanced semiconductor testing facility near the proposed semiconductor park in Bhopal, internationally accredited testing laboratories and irradiation facilities for GI-tagged agricultural exports, and a multimodal logistics park alongside the proposed ICDs in Jabalpur and Rewa.

In addition, Kashyap requested that the LIFT scheme be extended to landlocked states and called for district-level capacity-building programmes to help MSMEs, startups and One District One Product (ODOP) producers benefit from India's Free Trade Agreements (FTAs).
