Lenzing Group presented its latest fibre innovation, TENCEL™ Lyocell - HV100, in the China market during Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics – Spring Edition held from 11–13 March 2026. Initially developed for denim constructions and first introduced at Kingpins Amsterdam, the fibre is now being explored for broader woven apparel applications through collaborations with textile mills.

Lenzing Group, a global producer of regenerated cellulosic fibres, announced the China market introduction of TENCEL™ Lyocell - HV100 during Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics – Spring Edition. The event took place from 11 to 13 March 2026 in Shanghai. The fibre was originally developed for denim constructions and was first presented at Kingpins Amsterdam. Following its initial use in denim, development is expanding into additional woven apparel categories.

The launch of TENCEL™ Lyocell - HV100 is supported through collaboration with textile mills that utilise the TENCEL™ fibre portfolio. After initial adoption in denim fabrics, further development has extended into bottom-weight fabrics such as chinos and shirting, with Chinese mill partners contributing to the next phase of product applications.

Yann Lepage, Executive Vice President, Commercial Textiles at Lenzing AG, said:
“China is one of the world’s leading markets for innovation and we are committed to strengthening our partnerships with brands, retailers and fabric mills across the country. The new TENCEL™ Lyocell - HV100 fiber reflects our collaborative approach to innovation, acting on client insight with our R&D expertise to deliver a differentiated solution to the market. We very much look forward to continuing to work closely with our partners here in China. Together we are driving product innovation and supporting the evolving needs of this important market.”

According to a study conducted by NielsenIQ, TENCEL™ has been the fibre brand with the highest consumer awareness in China for five consecutive years. The research indicates that purchase intent for apparel made with TENCEL™ fibres reaches 92% among consumers in China familiar with the brand. Globally, among consumers familiar with TENCEL™, 85% express intent to purchase garments containing the fibres, while 88% report satisfaction with products they have purchased that include TENCEL™ fibres.

TENCEL™ Lyocell - HV100 has been developed with the same environmental attributes associated with the broader LENZING™ Lyocell fibre portfolio. The fibre was engineered to create textiles that visually resemble natural fibres while maintaining the softness associated with TENCEL™ fibres. Using Variocut technology, controlled variations in staple length are introduced, producing subtle surface irregularities and a matte appearance.

Julia Ulrich, Head of Product Management Textiles at Lenzing, stated:
“TENCEL™ Lyocell - HV100 is a unique offering for the apparel market. While standard TENCEL™ Lyocell is known and loved for creating smooth and even fabrics, TENCEL™ Lyocell - HV100 provides a look and feel that is more reminiscent of naturally grown fibers. TENCEL™ Lyocell - HV100 thus opens up new possibilities in segments where a more matte and irregular fabric surface is desired.”

Chinese textile manufacturers are involved in scaling fibre innovations for global markets. These mills supply both domestic and international brands and contribute to product development and manufacturing processes.

Vincent Hu, Senior Commercial Director, Textiles China at Lenzing, commented:
“For the Chinese market, TENCEL™ Lyocell - HV100 opens a new chapter especially in denim, delivering the rugged, matte texture that high-end denim demands, built on a foundation of comfort and responsibility. Partners like Advance Denim have demonstrated how their craftsmanship turns TENCEL™ Lyocell - HV100 into high quality, responsible fabrics.”

Wang Zongwen, Managing Director of Advance Denim, said:
“Having partnered with Lenzing for over two decades, we have always been dedicated to tackling industry pain points and meeting consumers’ demand for comfort. This collaboration is especially exciting, we have jointly tackled a ‘seemingly impossible’ challenge, building on the exceptional drape, strength, and environmental advantages of TENCEL™ Lyocell, and endowing it with a cotton-like natural luster. This product is a significant breakthrough in advancing the denim category and a testament to Lenzing’s technical prowess.”

Wang Gang, Marketing Director of Denim Yarn at Texhong International Group, added:
“Through the blending of long and short fibers, TENCEL™ Lyocell-HV100 delivers an unprecedented texture of natural fibers, with production results achieving an exceptionally high first-pass quality that far exceeded expectations. I believe that this 'cotton-like' new style not only injects vitality into denim but also holds the potential to extend into areas like knitwear and sweaters in the future, with the long-term promise of reshaping the landscape of niche markets.”

Lenzing stated that the introduction of TENCEL™ Lyocell - HV100 in China will support further product development, expanded textile applications, and collaboration across the textile value chain. Technical specifications, application guidance, and certification information are available through the company’s digital platform, Lenzing Pro.
