LANXESS Ranks First in Europe in Dow Jones Best-in-Class Index for Chemicals

Specialty chemicals company secures fifth position globally and receives improved ESG ratings from Sustainalytics

LANXESS has been ranked first in Europe and fifth worldwide in the Chemicals category of the latest Dow Jones Best-in-Class Index, reinforcing its position among companies recognized for sustainability performance in the chemical industry.

According to the index, the specialty chemicals company recorded strong ratings in the areas of climate strategy, water management, human rights, and product stewardship.

Sustainalytics Upgrades LANXESS to 'Low Risk'

LANXESS has also improved its sustainability rating from Sustainalytics, which evaluates companies based on environmental, social, and governance (ESG) risks.

The company has been upgraded from the "Medium Risk" category to "Low Risk." With a score of 19.6 points, LANXESS is now ranked among the top 4 percent in the Specialty Chemicals segment and the top 6 percent of the global chemical industry.

Recognition from Other Sustainability Rating Agencies

The company has also received recognition from several other sustainability assessment organizations.

The CDP climate protection initiative has once again included LANXESS on its "A List" for climate protection and assigned the company an "A-" rating for its water management performance.

In addition, sustainability assessment platform EcoVadis has reaffirmed LANXESS' Gold status. The company achieved 83 out of 100 points, placing it among the leading companies within its industry.

Long-Term Sustainability Targets

LANXESS stated that it aims to achieve climate neutrality in production and energy use by 2040, while targeting climate neutrality across its entire value chain by 2050.

According to the company, its corporate strategy combines environmental responsibility with economic performance and responsible corporate governance.
