The contract for the establishment of a garment manufacturing factory in Ilorin has been approved by the Kwara state executive council.

The N1.8 billion Garment Production Village factory will provide job opportunities for indigenes of the state, particularly youths and women, said Commissioner for Enterprise Hajia Arinola Lawal at a cabinet meeting presided over by Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.

The Commissioner, who presented the memo at the council meeting and explained the bidding process for such high-end projects in accordance with procurement law, estimated the cost of the garment factory at N1.8 billion, which was awarded to Freshvine Nigeria Ltd, one of three firms that bid for it.

The commissioner also stated that various long-term plans are in place to ensure the factory's success.

The council approved the memo, noting that the factory will be the largest in West Africa.
