Jeanologia shows that sustainability and business can drive  progress together

Sustainability Report highlights 21.52 million m³ of water pollution avoided and 103.53 million kg of CO₂ emissions prevented through Jeanologia technologies

Jeanologia has released its Sustainability Report 2025, outlining the environmental and social impact of its operations and technologies across the textile industry. The company reported a 13.64% reduction in its own carbon footprint and said the use of its technologies in textile factories worldwide prevented 21.52 million m³ of water from being polluted and 103.53 million kg of CO₂ from being emitted compared with traditional textile finishing processes.

More than 96% of Jeanologia’s turnover is also associated with activities aligned with the EU Taxonomy, according to the report, while the company has identified further priorities for measuring and reducing its environmental impact.

Carbon Footprint Falls to 773.57 Tonnes

Jeanologia said sustainability has been integrated into its business strategy for more than 30 years, alongside the development of technologies intended to reduce the environmental impact of textile production.

“Sustainability is not a destination or a department. It is a way of thinking, creating and acting. Real transformation only happens when sustainability and business progress together,” says Enrique Silla, founder and CEO of Jeanologia.

Under its principle of “People and planet come first”, the company focuses on reducing the environmental impact of its own operations while developing technologies for a resource-intensive textile industry.

In 2025, Jeanologia reduced its carbon footprint by 13.64%, from 895.79 tonnes of CO₂ equivalent in the previous year to 773.57 tonnes of CO₂ equivalent.

The company also reported impacts beyond its own operations. According to the report, the use of Jeanologia technologies in factories around the world prevented 21.52 million m³ of water from being polluted and 103.53 million kg of CO₂ from being emitted, compared with traditional textile finishing processes.

EU Taxonomy Assessment

Jeanologia also conducted its first voluntary assessment of its activities against the EU Taxonomy.

The assessment found that:

  • 96.37% of turnover was associated with activities aligned with the framework.
  • 84.43% of CapEx was associated with aligned activities.
  • 34.96% of OpEx was associated with aligned activities.

The activities were primarily associated with contributions to climate change mitigation and adaptation and the transition to a circular economy.

Long-Term Social Responsibility

The company said its social responsibility activities extend to people and communities where it operates. Its approach focuses on supporting social projects over the long term and maintaining relationships with the organisations involved.

Jeanologia has also been a member of the United Nations Global Compact since 2019. Its commitment covers the initiative’s principles relating to human rights, labour, the environment and anti-corruption, alongside contributions to the Sustainable Development Goals.

Focus on Measuring Environmental Impact

Measurement remains a central element of Jeanologia’s sustainability strategy.

The company published its first Sustainability Report in 2017, when it also introduced an Environmental Profit and Loss Account to quantify water savings and reductions in CO₂ emissions achieved through its technologies.

In 2019, Jeanologia established a cross-functional Sustainability Committee. In 2022, it professionalised its reporting process in line with United Nations principles and GRI Standards.

The 2025 report identifies several priorities for the next stage, including improving the quality, consistency and traceability of emissions measurement, reducing operational impact, increasing visibility across the value chain and strengthening resilience to climate change.

EIM Expands Industry-Level Measurement

Jeanologia is also seeking to apply its measurement approach across the wider textile industry through EIM (Environmental Impact Measuring), a methodology developed by the company to measure textile process impacts objectively and consistently.

In 2025, Jeanologia published its second EIM report, based on more than 100,000 real-world processes from 359 manufacturers across more than 40 countries. The data provides an assessment of environmental impacts across the global denim industry based on the reported sample.

The company said it continues to develop EIM as an independent unit and is allocating additional resources to its development as a global benchmark for measuring the industry's environmental impact.

The Sustainability Report 2025 combines Jeanologia’s reported results from 2025 with priorities for the coming period, including further measurement, impact reduction and value-chain visibility.
