JD Institute Launches House of JD to Connect Emerging Designers with Consumers

New e-commerce marketplace aims to take student and emerging design work from portfolios to products, sales and brand building
JD Institute of Fashion Technology, led by Yogesh Dalal, Payal Dalal and Rinesh Dalal, has launched House of JD, an e-commerce marketplace designed to connect students, alumni and emerging designers with consumers. The platform brings together fashion, interiors, textiles, art, objects and lifestyle products, creating a pathway from design creation to commercial opportunities.
Launched on September 14, 2026, House of JD extends JD Institute’s design education ecosystem into consumer access and commerce, allowing creative talent to showcase and sell their work.
House of JD Connects Design Talent with the Market
Many young designers complete projects that eventually remain within portfolios or exhibitions. House of JD is designed to provide an additional route for these creations to reach consumers and develop into commercial products.
The platform will allow students, alumni, aspiring and emerging designers, as well as established creative talent, to showcase their work and build experience in presenting, positioning and commercialising their designs.
For consumers, the marketplace will provide access to design-led products along with stories about the people and ideas behind them.
JD Institute Brings Its Design Ecosystem Online
Established in 1988, JD Institute of Fashion Technology has developed a design education ecosystem with 38+ learning centres and more than 45,000 design graduates.
Its alumni have moved into areas including fashion, interiors, jewellery and styling, while also working with brands, design studios and industry professionals in India and international markets.
House of JD builds on this existing ecosystem by connecting education and industry exposure with consumer access and commerce.
Platform to Feature Emerging and Established Talent
House of JD will bring together student and emerging designers alongside established labels, premium brands and limited-edition collaborations.
The marketplace will cover five categories:
- hoJD Student
- hoJD Next
- hoJD Signature
- hoJD Collective
- hoJD Legendary
These categories are intended to connect students, alumni, faculty, industry participants and consumers within the broader JD ecosystem.
Curated Marketplace for Design Products
Unlike an open marketplace, House of JD will follow a curation process in which designers, collections and products are reviewed before being featured.
An advisory board will participate in the collection review process, with the platform aiming to remain “curated, not crowded” and focused on discovering relevant design talent.
JD Institute Focuses on Commercialising Emerging Talent
Commenting on the launch, Mr Rinesh Dalal, Director, JD Institute of Fashion Technology, said:
“India has no shortage of design talent. What is needed are more places for designers to start and take their work forward. House of JD creates that opportunity by giving designers a space to bring their work to a wider audience and develop it further. We aim to discover, curate and commercialise the work of the next generation of creative entrepreneurs, while creating a space where consumers can discover the people and ideas behind the work. We want designers to use this space to be original, be themselves and enjoy the process of learning and creating as they take their work forward.”
The platform is intended to give emerging designers another route to reach consumers while helping them understand the commercial aspects of building a design-led business.
From Design Education to Consumer Commerce
With House of JD, JD Education Trust is expanding its role from nurturing design talent to creating a pathway for that talent to reach the market.
The marketplace brings together education, creativity, industry and commerce on a single platform, with a focus on helping designers move their work beyond portfolios and exhibitions towards products, consumer access and brand development.
