Investment contributes to Indonesia's goal of reducing waste by 70% by 2025.

Indorama Ventures (IVL), headquartered in Thailand, plans to construct a plant in Karawang, West Java, to recycle over two billion plastic bottles per year in support of the Indonesian government's aim to decrease maritime trash.

Indorama Ventures proposes to spend $1.5 billion in a greenfield PET recycling factory in Indonesia, creating 217 new employment by 2023. The facility will recycle PET plastic from soft drinks and water bottles as PET flake feedstock to make recycled resin safe for food contact. Indorama Ventures already has six Indonesian locations, including Purwakarta, Cilegon, and Tangerang and Karawang.
