Italian Textile Technology Workshop Opens in Ulaanbaatar to Strengthen Mongolia Partnership

Italian machinery manufacturers showcase advanced textile technologies during three-day workshop focused on industrial cooperation and production modernization

The three-day workshop on Italian textile technologies is taking place in Ulaanbaatar from 21 to 23 June 2026, with participation from 13 Italian textile machinery manufacturers. The initiative is centred on showcasing advanced technological solutions for the textile industry while promoting industrial collaboration between Italy and Mongolia.

The programme focuses on supporting Mongolia’s textile sector as it moves toward more efficient and premium-quality production. Italian textile machinery manufacturers will present technologies designed to address industry requirements while contributing to the country’s industrial modernization and sustainability efforts.

Italy’s textile machinery industry is recognised for developing technology-driven, flexible and customised manufacturing solutions. The sector provides equipment designed to respond to varying production requirements and specialised textile applications.

The technological cooperation between the two countries is closely linked to Italy’s expertise in processing cashmere and wool, two raw materials that are strategically important to Mongolia’s economy. According to data compiled by ACIMIT, Mongolia has recorded notable market growth in recent years, reflecting the continued expansion of trade cooperation between the two countries.

Among Italian textile machinery exports to Mongolia, spinning technologies account for 35% of total exports, followed by laundry machinery at 21%, accessories at 19%, finishing equipment at 14%, and weaving machinery at 11%.

“Mongolia represents a highly promising market for our industry,” said Marco Salvadè, President of ACIMIT. “The participation of Italian companies in the Ulaanbaatar workshop demonstrates a strong commitment to consolidating a long-term technological partnership. Our highly specialized and flexible technologies are ready to support local operators in upgrading their production processes and increasing the added value of their textile exports. The workshop in Mongolia is also part of a broader program of initiatives aimed at promoting the Italian presence at ITMA Hannover 2027, the world’s leading exhibition for textile and garment technologies, where Italian companies will once again showcase the very best of textile machinery innovation.”

The initiative is promoted by the Italian Trade Agency and ACIMIT, with the support of the Embassy of Italy in Mongolia. Participating companies include Biancalani, Bianco, Color Service, Cormatex, Fadis, Lawer, Mesdan, Cosmatex, Pinter Caipo Italia, Proxima, Stalam, Tecnomeccanica Biellese and Ugolini.
