The premier trade show for Pakistan's textile machinery industry, IGATEX, the International Garment & Textile Machinery Exhibition & Conference, will take place in Karachi from April 24 to 26. The Association of Italian Textile Machinery Manufacturers (ACIMIT) and the Italian Trade Agency are arranging an Italian collective participation for the first time in a long time. Eleven businesses will compete, three in the spinning hall and the other eight in the finishing area. Ten businesses—Audaces, Biancalani, Brazzoli, Danitech, Fadis, Ferraro, McS, Pinter Caipo, Pozzi Leopoldo, and Zanfrini—are members of ACIMIT.

A total of 11 leading Italian companies will showcase their cutting-edge textile machinery solutions, with 3 exhibitors in the spinning hall and 8 in the finishing section. Among them, 10 ACIMIT member companies—Audaces, Biancalani, Brazzoli, Danitech, Fadis, Ferraro, Mcs, Pinter Caipo, Pozzi Leopoldo, and Zanfrini—will highlight Italy’s commitment to technological innovation and quality craftsmanship in the textile industry.

Revitalizing Trade Amid Economic Challenges

The Pakistani textile industry has faced economic headwinds in recent years, following a period of substantial investments in machinery and infrastructure. Marco Salvadè, President of ACIMIT, acknowledged these challenges, stating: “After a phase of strong investments, Pakistan’s textile sector has experienced a downturn due to a difficult macroeconomic landscape.”

This decline is evident in Italian textile machinery exports, which dropped from €134 million in 2021 to €44 million in 2023. However, there is positive momentum—Italian sales surged to €34 million in the first nine months of 2024, marking a 27% increase compared to the same period in 2023.

Strengthening Ties for a Sustainable Future

Despite recent challenges, Italy remains committed to supporting Pakistan’s textile sector. ACIMIT and ICE’s initiative to organize a collective participation at IGATEX 2025 underscores the importance of maintaining a presence in this key market.

Beyond trade exhibitions, Italy is fostering long-term industrial growth through technological training initiatives. The National Textile University in Faisalabad houses a state-of-the-art training center, developed in partnership with PISIE (International Polytechnic for Industrial and Economic Development) and the Italian Trade Agency.

Salvadè emphasized: “Innovation and quality are the pillars of Italian textile machinery. Our continued investment in the Pakistani market will help local companies enhance their global competitiveness.”

Conclusion

IGATEX 2025 presents a pivotal opportunity for Italian manufacturers to showcase their latest advancements and reaffirm their dedication to Pakistan’s textile industry. With innovation at the forefront, Italy’s presence at the event signals a renewed commitment to strengthening industrial ties and driving technological progress in the region.
