Italian Textile Machinery Industry to Hold Dual Bangladesh Workshops in Dhaka and Chittagong

ACIMIT and the Italian Trade Agency to connect Italian machinery manufacturers with Bangladesh's textile industry through technical seminars and B2B meetings.

The Italian textile machinery industry will organise a two-stop industrial mission in Bangladesh, focusing on the country's two principal textile manufacturing centres—Dhaka and Chittagong.

The programme will begin in Dhaka on July 7 and continue in Chittagong on July 9, where Italian machinery manufacturers will meet representatives from Bangladesh's textile supply chain. The initiative is intended to support technological upgrading and higher value-added textile production through technical exchanges and business networking.

According to the organisers, Asia accounts for 40% of Italian textile machinery exports, with total exports to the region valued at €667 million. Bangladesh remains an important market, recording €71 million in Italian textile machinery imports in 2025, representing a 17% increase compared to the previous year.

The Italian textile machinery sector comprises around 300 companies, exporting 86% of its production to 130 countries. The industry is characterised by production flexibility and the development of customised technological solutions.

Commenting on the initiative, Marco Salvadè, President of ACIMIT, said:

“The 2025 figures speak clearly: the 17% growth testifies that the Bangladeshi textile industry views Italian manufacturers as an irreplaceable partner to win the global challenge of quality and efficiency. The decision to visit both Dhaka and Chittagong with this workshop stems from our desire to closely support the country’s two industrial engines, offering tailored solutions capable of generating an immediate technological upgrade and guiding local players toward more sustainable models. This journey also represents an ideal springboard ahead of ITMA Hanover 2027, the global stage where we will showcase the next major evolutions of our technology.”

The workshops are promoted by the Italian Trade Agency (ICE) and ACIMIT, with support from the Embassy of Italy in Dhaka. The programme will include targeted B2B business meetings and technical seminars in both cities.
