Intex Sri Lanka 2025 Marks a Decade of Textile Sourcing Excellence

The 10th edition of Intex Sri Lanka concluded with resounding success, celebrating its decade-long journey as South Asia’s premier textile sourcing platform. Over the years, Intex has become a global meeting point for apparel manufacturers, technology providers, and buyers, and this milestone edition further underscored its influence on the apparel and textile landscape.
A Global Showcase of Innovation and Collaboration
The three-day exhibition, held from 6–8 August 2025 at the BMICH across five halls, featured more than 400 booths from over 15 countries and regions, including strong country pavilions from India, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Indonesia, and China. This year’s event attracted 6,944 trade visitors and industry leaders from 25+ countries spanning South Asia, ASEAN, MENA, Europe, the UK, and the USA, reinforcing Sri Lanka’s role as a key hub for the regional textile supply chain.
Distinguished Guests and Partnerships
The Grand Opening Ceremony was graced by senior officials, including Hon. Sunil Handunnetti, Minister of Industry & Entrepreneurship Development, and Hon. Chathuranga Abeysinghe, Deputy Minister of Industry & Entrepreneurship Development, alongside a distinguished lineup of international dignitaries:

Strategic partnerships further highlighted the show’s focus on sustainability, traceability, and branding, with Eurofins serving as Sustainability Partner, Kasturi Cotton as Traceability Partner, and Super Dry and Oritain UK as Branding Partners.

Reflecting on the landmark occasion, Hon. Sunil Handunnetti remarked: “Intex Sri Lanka has, over the past decade, grown into far more than just a sourcing exhibition — it is now a platform where ideas meet action, where Sri Lanka connects with the world, and where our apparel sector’s strengths are on full display. This year’s edition has shown how innovation, sustainability, and collaboration can redefine the future of manufacturing in our region. As we look ahead, the Ministry will continue to support initiatives like Intex that bring global buyers and local producers together, helping Sri Lanka maintain its position as the hub of textile sourcing in South Asia.” The event also fostered strategic B2B matchmaking sessions, including collaborations between Kasturi Cotton and Sri Lankan manufacturers as well as Indonesian suppliers and Sri Lankan buyers, setting the groundwork for long-term partnerships and expanded market opportunities.
Knowledge Exchange Through IBF
Running parallel to the exhibition, the Interactive Business Forum (IBF) once again proved to be a hub of thought leadership.
- Day 1—themed “Apparel 2030: Re-Stitching Fashion’s Future”—delved into circular economy practices, traceability solutions, and smart textiles.
- Day 2—titled “Trust Over Trends: Building Brands Consumers Trust”—focused on brand resilience, transparency, and consumer trust-building strategies.
Speakers from Sri Lanka, India, the USA, the UK, and other key global markets shared practical insights, reinforcing IBF’s role as a strategic knowledge-sharing platform for the apparel sector.
Spotlight on Smart Manufacturing: InMac Exhibition
The co-located InMac – Smart Technology & Innovation in Gar-Tex Machinery Exhibition showcased cutting-edge textile and garment manufacturing solutions with an emphasis on resource efficiency and sustainable production. Exhibitors from Italy, Germany, Turkey, the UK, USA, Korea, China, India, and principles from Sri Lanka introduced innovations such as AI-powered inspection systems, digital printing, and advanced dyeing technologies, providing future-ready tools for sustainable apparel production.
