Aquapak has announced the appointment of retail packaging expert Karen Graley and renowned polymer scientist Professor Andrew Dove to its Advisory Board. This strategic move reinforces Aquapak’s commitment to advancing high-performance, environmentally safe materials that reduce plastic pollution and enhance recycling.

The Advisory Board plays a crucial role in guiding Aquapak’s senior team as they scale the adoption of Hydropol™, a marine-safe, non-toxic polymer technology that provides a sustainable alternative to conventional plastics.

Expertise Driving Innovation

  • Karen Graley brings over 30 years of experience managing private label packaging portfolios for leading retailers, including Waitrose and M&S. She has pioneered innovative packaging solutions, served on the OPRL board, judged the UK Packaging Awards, and advised the UK Government on Extended Producer Responsibility.
  • Professor Andrew Dove, a leader in polymer science at the University of Birmingham, heads the Dove Research Group, which focuses on sustainable materials. He is a key member of the Birmingham Plastics Network, an interdisciplinary team dedicated to shaping the future of plastics.

A Scalable Solution for a Plastic-Free Future

Hydropol™ is already making an impact, replacing conventional plastics in snack wrappers and garment bags. It is fully dissolvable, biodegradable, and recyclable, seamlessly integrating into existing recycling systems without leaving behind harmful microplastics. Consumers can dispose of Hydropol-based packaging via kerbside collections without contamination concerns, ensuring a truly circular solution.

Leadership Perspectives

  • Mark Lapping, CEO of Aquapak, stated:
“Having experts like Karen Graley and Professor Andrew Dove on board strengthens our mission to position Hydropol™ as a game-changing alternative to traditional plastics.”
  • Karen Graley commented:
“I’m excited to support Aquapak as it collaborates with brands and retailers to establish Hydropol™ as a sustainable and functional packaging solution.”
  • Professor Andrew Dove added:
“Finding scalable alternatives to plastic is a critical scientific challenge. Hydropol™ presents a real solution, and I look forward to contributing to its continued development.”

With this strengthened advisory team, Aquapak is poised to accelerate the transition to a more sustainable, plastic-free future.
