IFDA Education Foundation Announces Students Scholarships In 2023

Applications for nine scholarships from the International Furnishings and Design Association’s Educational Foundation (EF) will be accepted between March 1 and March 31, 2023. Since the early days of this 76-year-old global design industry alliance, arguably the most diverse organisation of its kind with membership that includes designers, media, and marketers, EF has awarded scholarships and grants to talented professionals worldwide. This year, nine scholarships totaling $18,000 are available.

“These scholarships represent the future of our industry and confirm our belief in supporting students and increasing public awareness of design through educational and philanthropic programmes,” said Karen Dzendolet, chairman of the IFDA Educational Foundation’s board of directors.Applicants must be currently employed. enrolled, and scholarships for the 2023 fall semester tuition have been paid to the school. Unless otherwise specified, winners will be notified by July 31, 2023. IFDA Leaders Commemorative Scholarship — $1,500. Extra credit for volunteer work/leadership; open to currently enrolled, full-time undergraduate students.

Scholarship for Part-Time Students — $1,500. Undergraduate students are welcome.Scholarship for IFDA Student Members — $2,000. Open to IFDA undergraduate students who are currently enrolled full-time. IFDA Graduate Student Scholarship Vercille Voss — $2,000. Graduate students who are currently enrolled, full- or part-time, are eligible.

The Ruth Clark Furniture Design Scholarship is valued at $4,000. Open to currently enrolled, full- or part-time undergraduate or graduate students with a course emphasis on Furniture Design.Scholarship for Barbara Beckmann Textile Design — $3,000. The IFDA Northern California Chapter established a scholarship in honour of Barbara Beckmann, a textile designer. Designer and long-time California Chapter member who serves as a mentor to new members and students. Open to current full- or part-time undergraduate and graduate students with a focus on textile design.

The IFDA Philadelphia Scholarship is worth $2,500 USD. The IFDA Philadelphia Chapter established a scholarship to honour the rich history of design in Philadelphia and beyond. Students currently enrolled in a two-, three-, or four-year interior design or related programme are eligible. Every year, the emphasis shifts between textile, graphic, furniture, and interior design. The theme for this year is Interior Design.

Green/Sustainable Design by Tricia LeVangie The scholarship amount is $1,500. Open to current full-time or part-time undergraduate students. Certified Professionals in Window Fashion Fast Track Scholarship One complete registration costs $1,000. Open to currently enrolled, two- or three-interior design or related programme undergraduate students.As previously stated, All 2023 EF scholarship applications will be accepted only during the month of March, with winners expected to be notified in July.

The IFDA Educational Foundation is a 501(3) non-profit organisation. Its nine scholarships are available to full-time and part-time undergraduate and graduate students studying interior, green/sustainable, product, and textile design. Furthermore, 13 grants fund professional development opportunities for IFDA members and other design industry professionals, as well as resources for design schools.
