In an Exclusive interview with Mr. Pramod Khosla, Chairman & MD of Khosla Profile Pvt. Ltd.

TVC: What is your inspiration for starting the company in this segment? When it’s started?

Pramod Khosla: I started my career with RSWM in 1977. Firstly I started with polypropylene yarn with filtration.

We are in filtration from almost 40 years, I have started Khosla Profile  Pvt Ltd in Year 1979 and we are woven filter fabrics from 38 to 40 years. Now we are also emerging in nonwoven by completing the filtration basket with woven to nonwovens.

Demand is picking up, From last 2 years, we are planning 100 crore investment in nonwoven first line and coming 2 years we are planning to open 2 more lines. Because, its booming and we are in right time right place.

I have started nonwoven unit in last year 2016.

TVC:  By education, are you a textile person?

Pramod Khosla: No, I am a management graduate, but I am better than any other textile graduate because knowledge and experience gives you a vision of perfectionist.

TVC: What are the Challenges you face in nonwoven?

Pramod Khosla: We are into liquid filtration & Dust collection fabrics in woven fabrics. Due to innovation and new technology demand, our existing clients demands for nonwovens. As non woven is concern we are purely in filtration neither automobile nor hygiene.

TVC: What is your product Range?

Pramod Khosla:  We are making so many things in Filtration both Liquid as well as Dust collection. We do make all type of filtration fabrics for chemical, dyes, pharmaceuticals, cement etc.

TVC:  What is the Dust collection Application area?

Pramod Khosla:  Dust collection bag use from which dust comes out mainly chimneys, boilers, cement factory, power plant, chemical factories etc. In India we can release below 40 milligram of dust in air while china they bring it down to 10 milligram.  Now a day’s government is very conscious about the pollution in the air of metropolitan cities like Delhi, Mumbai etc. If our government imposes compulsory protection of pollution in air than the demand generate automatically it’s vice versa.

TVC: What is your unique selling Point (USP)?

Pramod Khosla:  In Liquid filtration we are the first it’s our USP. We have certain technology which we are first to apply in country that is our advantage.

We offer product which is different in terms of dimensional stability, coefficient variation percentage is lowest from others because finishing technology is very much new in the world.

TVC: What is your pricing strategy?

Pramod Khosla:  Pricing depends upon the quality of the product and characteristic. Pricing is the very critical issue but we keep reasonable price according to product technology.

TVC:  Do you have Brand?

Pramod Khosla:  Our Company name “Khosla Profile” itself is a brand from 40 years.

TVC:  Scope of nonwovens in India:

Pramod Khosla:  Nonwoven in India has a tremendous scope. CAGR (Compound Annual Growth Rate) of nonwoven is far higher than woven’s.  The scope of nonwoven is very huge in medical, agriculture, hygiene, automobile, geo textile etc.

TVC:  Your market focus is in India or International?

Pramod Khosla:  Our market is equally distributed in Domestic & International region.  We are working with almost 62 countries internationally.

TVC:  You have in house R&D center & Design team?

Pramod Khosla:  Everything is in house we don’t do any consultancy and joint venture. Our R&D is affiliated by government; Designing is done under my supervision.

TVC:  What percentage you kept for R&D?

Pramod Khosla:  We don’t keep any percentage, but “we are like a laboratory which also manufacture”. We continuously innovate so many new products throughout the year. We are inventing 10 to 15% new product every year. We don’t outsource anything whether it is woven or nonwoven.

We won’t inspire by others and we are self satisfied by our innovations.

TVC:  Is there any Future Plan in non woven for next 5 to 10 years?

Pramod Khosla:  In future we would like to add 2 more Lines in non woven.

TVC:  Any Future generation joining the Business?

Pramod Khosla:  Both of my son in laws are in the business.

TVC:  New application area in nonwoven?

Pramod Khosla:  We are in the process of making fabrics for swimming pools, Paint shops etc. it’s all under R&D.

TVC:  Can you share your market share in nonwoven?

Pramod Khosla:  In liquid filtration we are the only one while in dust collection we just begun. So, it’s less than 5% it will become much more substantial in future. Indian market is much more competitive because Chinese company exporting raw material to India, so market is already saturated.

TVC:  What is your point of view for COE?

Pramod Khosla:  There is definitely a huge scope for COE. In each area of nonwoven they are going to start some awareness through seminars. Industrialists are not taking as much advantage of DKTE, so COE had to bring awareness among industries for their facilities and development. Usage of Nonwoven such as geo textile, automotive, filter & hygiene are growing day by day as usage increase demand will also increase, so, COE need to educate consumer as well as industry.
