Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics Introduces ‘Shape the Movement’ Identity for 2027 Spring Edition

The 10–12 March 2027 fair will focus on performance textiles, sustainability, fashion trends and textile innovation, with dedicated zones and an expanded programme of industry discussions.

Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics has announced a renewed brand identity and the slogan “Shape the Movement” for its Spring Edition 2027, scheduled for 10–12 March 2027 at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (NECC) in Shanghai, China.

The new positioning reflects the fair’s role in connecting textile businesses, showcasing emerging trends and supporting exchanges around functional materials, sustainability and commercial opportunities across the global textile industry.

Four Themes to Guide the 2027 Edition

The fair will continue to focus on four key themes: Fashion Forward, Textile Future, Performance Textiles and Sustainability. Performance Textiles and Sustainability are expected to receive particular attention as demand grows for functional and environmentally focused textile solutions.

Ms Wilmet Shea, General Manager of Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd, said: “Shaping the industry’s movement is exactly what this fair does, at every edition. The new slogan is a nod to Intertextile Apparel’s unmatched influence in determining what vast numbers of global consumers want to wear, how they want to wear it, and how industry players can make that happen. This is the latest in our efforts to update the fair’s branding, to reflect its evolution as a platform that facilitates the development of not only trade, but also high-growth trends and movements like performance-based, sustainable innovation.”

Sustainability and Traceability Shape Textile Innovation

The event will take place alongside four other textile and fashion fairs at NECC, bringing together exhibitors from the yarn and fibre, apparel fabric, fashion, knitwear and home textile sectors.

Functionality and sustainability are expected to remain common priorities across these segments. The announcement highlights the growing importance of regulatory requirements, certification and traceability, particularly for suppliers serving European markets.

The European Union’s Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR) is establishing requirements intended to support more sustainable products and circularity across sectors. These developments are prompting textile suppliers and buyers to adapt materials, processes and compliance practices.

Mr Rainer Roten, CEO of TESTEX AG, which exhibited at the previous Spring Edition, said: “The industry is accelerating its evolution towards digitilisation, traceability, and the circular economy, and our core value lies in providing in-depth support that aligns perfectly – from testing services to ensure export compliance, to dissemination of trend information – empowering our clients to stay ahead. This fair brings together buyers from around the world, particularly from our core Asian market, enabling us to connect with many potential and existing partners in one location. Despite our global recognition, we still regard this as a vital platform for client engagement.”

Functional Lab and Econogy Hub Return

The 2026 Spring Edition attracted over 3,000 exhibitors from 25 countries and regions and more than 96,000 visitors from 119 represented markets. The organisers reported increased exhibition space for Functional Lab and Econogy Hub, two zones focused on performance-oriented and sustainability-related solutions.

Both zones will return in 2027 with integrated presentation and display areas. Hall 5.1 will also host the Pet Boutique, featuring functional and sustainable garments, fabrics and accessories for China’s pet apparel market.

Functional Lab’s display area, The CUBE, will showcase performance textiles and introduce four categories at the Spring Edition: Thermal Regulation, Moisture Management, Comfort + Sustainability, and Protection.

Industry Interest in Functional and Sustainable Fabrics

Hyosung International Trade (Jiaxing) is among the companies highlighting the relationship between textile functionality and sustainability.

Ms Eva Zhu, Fabric Business Unit/Vice Director from Hyosung International Trade (Jiaxing), said at the previous Spring Edition: “We are actively strategising to combine sustainability with functional fabrics – investing in an integrated factory in Vietnam to develop bio-based spandex, and creating various recycled materials in China,” said Ms Eva Zhu, Fabric Business Unit/Vice Director from Hyosung International Trade (Jiaxing) last March. “Intertextile Apparel is an excellent platform to acquire customers, promote our products and brand, and hold in-depth discussions. This Spring Edition has truly exceeded our expectations so far. As well as meeting existing European and American clients, numerous new buyers showed strong interest. Global demand for functional fabrics is rising, especially in China, driven by consumer desire for healthy lifestyles and sports.”

Trend Forum and Industry Seminars Planned

Alongside the exhibition, the Spring Edition 2027 will feature the Intertextile Directions Trend Forum for Spring/Summer 2028, market-focused display areas, seminars, panel discussions and product presentations.

The programme will cover Design & Trends, Market Information & Business Strategies, Sustainability Issues, and Technology & Solutions. Sustainability and functionality will feature prominently across discussions and displays exploring developments in the textile sector.
